This UCLA Occasional Paper is a synthesis of three recent papers written by Adam: (1) "The Revolutionary Development of the Somali Language," presented at FESTAC, the World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture held in Lagos, Nigeria in January, 1977; (2) "Language and Cultural Development in Somalia," presented to the Frantz Fanon Research and Development Center, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad in February, 1978; and (3) "Notes on Somali Studies in Somali." presented at the African Studies Association annual meeting in Baltimore, Maryland in November, 1978
