Aleister Crowley papers
Aleister Crowley, Achad (Korespondent), L. Bathurst (Korespondent)
This is a collection of largely administrative papers related to Aleister Crowley's work in the United States and Canada in growing the sect Mysteria Mystica Maxima (M∴M∴M∴) of the Ordo Templi Orientis, or O.T.O. ("Order of the Temple of the East"), as well as the A∴A∴, or Argentium Astrum, in the United States and Canada. These materials date to the period just before and near the beginning of Crowley's formation of the Abbey of Thelema, a religious commune he founded in Sicily. Included are pledge forms, progress trackers, and subscription letters to members, some with Crowley's opinions on the various recruits written directly on the documents. There is also some departure from the administrative theme as the collection includes three creative works, two of which - a short story and a book translation - were unpublished during his lifetime
