Surveys the social position of Jews in Germany and in the city of Oldenburg from 1918-33, including the prevalent Jew hatred after the defeat in the First World War and the rise of the Nazi Party in the 1920s. Pp. 65-112 describe the persecution of Oldenburg Jews between 1930-38. Of the 350 Jews, ca. 200 emigrated; the others were deported in 1940, and ca. 130 were murdered in the extermination camps.
