대망 = Great ambition
The 2002 SBS historical series Daemang (a.k.a. Great Ambition) stars Chuno Best Actor Jang Hyuk and Han Jae Suk (All About Eve) as brothers who walk down very different paths as greed, revenge, and betrayal tear their family and nation apart. Other than Jang Hyuk and Han Jae Suk, the drama features an amazing cast that includes Lee Yo Won, Son Ye Jin, Yang Jin Woo, Park Sang Won, Jung Sung Mo, Jo Hyun Jae, Jo In Sung, Yoo Seon, and even a 15-year-old Jang Keun Suk. The team behind the camera is equally formidable: director Kim Jong Hak and writer Song Ji Na, who brought us the classic Sandglass and Eye of Dawn. Wealthy merchant Hee Chan (Park Sang Won) has two sons. Taking after his father, the older son Si Young (Han Jae Suk) is an immensely competent but cold-hearted businessman who has no qualms about using underhanded tactics to get his way. The kind-hearted younger son Jae Young (Jang Hyuk), however, chooses to leave home, even becoming a vigilante to help the poor. As fate would have it, Jae Young and Si Young end up falling in love with the same woman (Lee Yo Won). At the same time, the power struggle heats up in the palace, leaving much blood in its path, and both brothers get embroiled in the action
