Teaching Beliefs in Mohawk Classrooms: Issues of Language and Culture

The teaching beliefs of three primary level teachers (two Mohawk and one nonaboriginal) teaching in the same Mohawk community are presented. The ways cultural identity and language affect these beliefs are analyzed, and the ways culture and group identity are enmeshed, yet distinct, concepts are explored. (Author/MMU)
