Based on the book "Ich bin dann mal weg" by Hape Kerkeling, the film traces Kerkeling's existential crisis following a sudden hearing loss and a gall bladder operation. Ordered by doctors to lay low for a bit, Kerkeling decides to use the break for some much-needed soul searching instead and sets off on a whim on a transformative, life-altering hike along the famed Christian pilgrimage route of Camino de Santiago in Spain
