In Mexico City, October 2, 1968, is remembered as "La Noche de Tlatelolco" (the Night of Tlatelolco) or "La Noche Triste" (the Sad Night). This film examines the events of that evening through the lens of a typical middle-class Mexican family living in Tlatelolco--a large apartment complex near the Plaza de las Tres Culturas. The government has spent massive amounts of money preparing for the Olympic Games, scheduled to begin in ten days. But a student movement has erupted, and 10,000 university and secondary students have gathered--just outside the family's windows--in the Plaza to demonstrate. This family will witness, and become hopelessly embroiled in, the government massacre of student protesters on that fatal night
