Correspondence, clippings, financial papers, and other items relating to Day, a Fairmont (Martin County, Minn.) newspaper editor who served in the Minnesota legislature (1878, 1887-1895, 1926-1928), as lieutenant governor (1895-1897), as private secretary to Governor John A. Johnson (1905-1909), and as a member of the board of visitors of the State Board of Control (1923-1926). Most of the papers consist of letters from other journalists and politicians, concentrated in the years 1894-1897, 1915-1916, and 1923-1927
