Data on the walleye, Stizostedion vitreum (Mitchill), and other fish species from Mosquito Creek, Northwest Territories, 1973-78

Mosquito Creek, situated on the North Arm of Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories, supports a popular walleye sport fishery in the early spring for the residents of Yellowknife. The spawning population of walleye in Mosquito Creek was studied from 1973 to 1978 through a creel census and biological sampling program which included fish fence (weir), gillnet, hoop net and fyke net operations and tagging. Data on the biology of walleye and other fish species collected (longnose sucker, northern pike, round whitefish, and white sucker) as well as tagging information are presented in tabular form. Biological data include length, length-weight relationship, age, mortality, fecundity, spawning migration and movement summaries. The data are intended to be used as background information for concurrent investigations.--Document
