In early recovery, one is constantly trying to figure out what to do to remain healthy, sober, and clean to create a positive environment for oneself and others, especially for one's children. Learning new techniques to care for our children is always important. When we set and enforce rules for our children, our jobs as parents become a lot easier; children learn right from wrong and how to behave responsibly. Reassuming parental responsibility once we achieve sobriety presents a dramatic change that our children may not welcome and we may be ill-equipped to handle.
