A guide to health impact assessment : guidelines for public health services and resource management agencies and consent applications
This guide describes the application of health impact assessment to relevant individual resource consents, as well as to general resource management policies, regulations, plansand objectives of central and local government. It sets out a number of principles and a systematic process for health impact assessment and risk analysis within the context of the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA). It isintended to assist communities, for example, to determine whether adequate provision has been made for: - people's health and safety - avoiding, remedying or mitigating adverse effects on the environment which may also affect health - safeguarding the life-supporting capacity of air, water, soil and ecosystems - the maintenance and enhancement of the quality of the environment
