Various versions
Guy Bigland's Various Versions compares twenty-four translations of the New Testament verse Ephesians 4:14, which in the World English Bible reads: "Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming." Bigland divided the verse into five parts to make up the chapters of his book: 1. Children, 2. Waves, 3. Teaching, 4. Tricks and 5. Deceit. The translations are dissected and grouped accordingly, thus offering "an examination of translation and interpretation. [...] The 'original' language is powerfully descriptive, poetic and evocative. Under this deconstruction these qualities are both tested (along with the patience of the reader) and reinforced by repetition and rearrangement" (artist website)
