Islam, the West and Jerusalem
"According to Walid Khalidi, the complex history of the Holy City of Jerusalem is not thoroughly understood by many. In effect, such misunderstanding and inattentiveness leads to even greater inequality and partiality. Mr. Khalidi states that, under Muslim rule, Jerusalem was a tolerant city with multiple faiths. Within the past decades, however, violations and military conquests have helped promote even greater disrespect and instability within the city. Walid Khalidi bases reconciliation between East and West Jerusalem on a number of principles; and sets forth a proposal for a peaceful future."
