Quezon City : the rise of a capital city of the Philippines, 1939-1976

For a period of time, Quezon City became the capital of the Philippines. The study seeks to determine the status of Quezon City as capital of the Philippines from its conceptualization in 1939 to its designation as capital in 1948 until the subsequent return of the capital to Manila in 1976. Utilizing the descriptive-analytical method, the aim of this study is to create a historical narrative of Quezon City as capital by analyzing the intentions behind the establishment and dislodgement of Quezon City as capital. This study is anchored on the theme of "elitist nation and state building," a theory that explains the political movement involving the relocation of a capital city as a form of exercise of power by the elite
