Hayek and the evolution of capitalism

Naomi Beck (Author)
'Hayek and the Evolution of Capitalism' offers a fresh perspective on the thought of Nobel Laureate in economics F.A. Hayek, and an evaluation of key theoretical elements that are often overlooked in his work. In order to understand Hayek's influential defense of the free market it is necessary to take a closer look at the evolutionary claims he advanced in its favour. By comparing Hayek's theory of cultural group selection with past views (e.g., Darwin) and with recent research on social evolution, this study highlights some of the pitfalls that lurk in attempts to integrate evolutionary, economic, and political thinking
