In 2012, UNESCO designated a number of Hälsinge manors as World Heritage Sites -- Sweden's fifteenth. From an international perspective, it is the well-preserved interiors of the manors that are the most unique. From 2014 to 2018, an interdisciplinary research project was carried out in which a large number of interiors with wall paintings, painted furniture and textiles were examined using scientific and humanistic methods and theories, and Hälsingland's interior design culture summarizes the results. Now we know which pigments and binders the folk painter Gustaf Reuter used. Through the information in the archive material and analyses of preserved textiles, we have an idea of the use of the turquoise yarn. It has also been established that the now light blue-gray ground color on the cabinets from Forsa parish was originally bright blue. And that the anonymous Blue Painters were probably two people, husband and wife -- from Bingsjö in Dalarna
