First order of business for Salado, Texas pioneers was to establish college on the rolling hills overlooking Salado Creek. Salado College, was a private school founded on the unconventional belief that both men and women deserved equal access to higher education. Early graduates became governors, judges, teachers, business and civic leaders who excelled in their chosen fields.
