Boogaloo and Eden : sustaining the sound

"Abie "Boogaloo" Ames is an elderly African-American jazz and blues pianist who was born in Georgia and grew up in Detroit. As a young man, Boogaloo established himself as one of the premiere players on the booming Detroit jazz scene. Although he once played with some of the country's finest jazz musicians and is considered a master of the Boogie Woogie piano style, Ames has always eked out a very modest living. Eden Brent is Boogaloo's student, friend and performing partner. Of all the students Boogaloo has taught over the years, she is the only one who can truly mimic his style. Eden grew up in the Mississippi Delta town of Greenville, not far from where Boogaloo settled, and yet they are from completely different worlds. She is a young, white woman from a close family accustomed to the creature comforts rarely found in Boogaloo's part of town. But music brought these two together and forged a creative partnership and, perhaps more important, a solid friendship that transcends things like race, class, gender and age"--Container
