Summary:Most of the book consists of an alphabetical list of all the localities in this state where there are Jewish landmarks and records of Jewish life. Each entry relates the history of the community and its fate during the Nazi period. Includes many pictures of synagogues destroyed in 1938. also gives a brief historical sketch (pp. 25-30) of medieval persecutions and pogroms, the process of emancipation in the 19th century, Nazi antisemitic measures, and the Holocaust. Pp. 105-106, "Spuren der Verfolgungszeit, 1933 bis 1945", record Nazi measures against Jews, the deportations from Baden and Württemberg, and the establishment of satellite camps of the Natzweiler concentration camp.
