Documents the renewal in the social and political lives of contemporary British Columbia Native American communities as they struggle to regain the diminished strength of their tribal cultures after decades of dispossession, prejudice, and forced acculturation. The native Peoples of British Columbia are redeveloping their traditional beliefs and using them as instruments to meet the future. Presents a short history of the Native Peoples, their culture and their dealings with the white stranger and his laws. In educational training centers native students are learning modern skills to equip them to face the modern world while relearning the traditions of the past
