1990 census of population and housing. Public use microdata samples
The Public Use Microdata Samples (PUMS) are numerical computer files that contain records for a sample of housing units, with information on the characteristics of each unit and the people in it. None of the PUMAscross state boundaries. This geographic coding scheme is new for 1990 and very little geographic comparability exists between PUMAs and geographic coding used in the 1960-1980 PUMS computer files. The A sample, 5-percent size, identifies most individual counties, or county groups, with 100,000 or more inhabitants. Housing and person variables include: number of rooms, plumbing facilities, sewage disposal, telephone availability, value, cost of utilities, rent, income, sex, age, race, marital history, education, occupation, and veteran status
