Black Artists of the New Generation is an extension of "Seventeen Black Artists". As its title suggests, it deals mainly but not exclusively with the younger postdepression artists; for it is they whose lives and works were so directly touched, and often seared, by the fiery turbulence of the ninteen fifties and sixties. The artists have all demonstrated their professionalism, public success, and the media they work with is as varied as their styles, and they live and work in all the major geographic areas of the country
