Lionel Devereaux and Carmen Novarro are an unsuccessful nightclub act in money trouble. He becomes her agent and barges his way into auditions at the Copacabana nightclub. Steve Hunt, the owner, likes Carmen but he also needs a French chanteuse for his smaller room. The ever resourceful Devereaux gets Carmen to dress in a different costume with a veil to conceal her identity. Both performers are so successful that Carmen is worn out by the quick changes between acts. Hunt is falling for Fifi while Anne is falling for him. To relieve the weary Carmen, he has her stage a fight between the two singers after which Fifi disappears. She is reported to have been murdered and Devereaux is the police's suspect. Fifi miraculously reappears and her identity is revealed. Hunt and Anne declare their love
