Intellectual Freedom and the Rights of Children
The in loco parentis concept conflicts directly with the intellectual freedom concept, which provides for free choice, regardless of age, in matters concerning the mind. This basic conflict has reached new proportions in recent years because of the U.S. Supreme Court's recognition of youths' rights in the First Amendment area. (4 references) (Author)
