Russian feminism : twenty years forward
Beth Holmgren (Screenwriter, Producer), Igor Sopronenko (Director), Cynthia Ann Ruder, Duke University, Signature Media Production (Firm), Indiana University Press
This film presents a capsule history of women's activism in the USSR and post-Soviet Russia, and details how Russians and Americans collaborated in reviving it and creating Russian women's studies on both sides of the ocean. This is a multi-voiced, sometimes debated history of what happened, what succeeded, what failed, and what might still be done. It juxtaposes experts views on how Russian and American scholars and activists came to work together, what resources they developed and services they provided, the impact of western funding on Russian women's groups, and the future of Russian feminism and Russian-American feminist exchange
