This book takes fashion seriously; it is not perceived as frivolous, irrational, or dictatorial. It seeks to provide reliable information on the most important fashion designers from 1945 to the present. It is international in scope, and organized alphabetically. Each entry (of the fashion designer) includes biographical information, as well as a critical assessment of the designer's contributions to fashion, and a bibliography to facilitate further research
