Into the valley : Marines at Guadalcanal
This story is based on a small battle which John Hersey observed in Guadalcanal. While the battle was not of significance, he gives details of the jungle environment, conversations among the men before, during, and after battle, how the wounded were evacuated and other works of daily heroism
