Comprises a comprehensive reference to place names throughout the state, originally published in 1928 by Lewis A. McArthur and first updated by his son Lewis in 1974. This edition includes some 6,200 alphabetized entries discussing the origin and meaning of each name. Included CD-ROM provides biographic and geographic indexes and maps showing the locations of over 1,600 post offices and nearly 1,300 communities and geographic features.
