The John Marin Collection at the Colby College Museum of Art

John Marin's family presented Colby College with 24 works by him: "four oils, fouteen watercolors, three graphite drawings, one pastel, and two etchings. The works range in date from the 1888 watercolor White Lake, Silluvan County, N.Y., done when Marin was 18, to Huntington, Long Island #2, painted in 1952, the year before he died." "Marin died 50 years ago this year at his home, Cape Split Place. On this anniversary year it is appropriate that Colby College publish a catalogue on the John Marin Collection at the Colby College Museum of Art, one of the most comprehensive collections of his work in the United States." --excerpts from foreword
