The first Maya civilization : ritual and power before the classic period
Estrada-Belli (archaeology, Boston U.) conducted research for 10 years in and around the Holmul site in Guatemala, where the earliest Maya artifacts have been found, and here offers a first summary of his findings about how the civilization developed.
