The peace and violence of Judaism : from the Bible to modern Zionism
Correlating with the author's increased focus on Jewish ethics, this book explores a basic and consistent ambiguity in Jewish ethics when it comes to issues of peace and violence. His study probes the reasons why the Jewish texts are ambiguous as well as understanding the interpretive procedures that make this ambiguity possible and how it is played out in modern Zionism. He also uses his experience as an academic involved in interfaith dialogue and peace work to shed light on this issue. His analysis, while focused on Judaism, is by no means relevant to Judaism alone as he concludes all major religions are ambiguous regarding the issues of peace and violence
