A rhetorical assessment of the catholic pentecostal movement
When a group of lay Roman Catholic intellectuals began experimenting with the tongue-speaking practices of the fundamentalist Pentecostal movement, most observers expected the group to be a short-lived, unorthodox cult. Instead, a flourishing movement emerged which has continued not only to pledge allegiance to the church but also to attract Catholics disillusioned with the ascendency of church liberalism after the Second Vatican Council. This study treats Catholic Pentecostalism as an "innovational."
