Mechanics of materials
This textbook is intended as a first course in mechanics of materials for students in mechanical, structural, civil, biomedical, aeronautical, and other engineering fields. The eighth edition includes new and updated material that features expanded topic coverage, expanded chapters, a new section on statics review, and new example and end-of-chapter problems. A sampling of topics includes: axially loaded members, shear forces and bending moments, analysis of stress and strain, and columns. Authors are Goodno (civil and environmental engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology) and Longtime co-author Gere (emeritus, civil engineering, Stanford U.) who died in 2008.
