La labor museológica de la Revolución cubana y el proceso de transformación en la proyección social de los museos en Cuba

The birth of the first Cuban museums was only possible thanks to the natural history collections developed since the second half of the nineteenth century, along with private endeavor of valuable objects from the independence wars of the country. The social process derived from the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959 started a deep transformation of the social projection of museology and triggered the recovery and conservation of historical, artistic, documentary and architectural values, leading to the creation of new museums. These institutions with a fresh technical an ideological presentation and its corresponding legal support, turned out to be, in this way, permanent centers for education, helping to solve the social and cultural problems inherited form the past, as well as instructors of the new generations of Cuban citizens. This paper analyzes this historical process in order to introduce some reflections about the present and future of the museums in Cuba.Palavras-chave : museum; collection; museology; socialization; cultural programming
