The collection consists of a handwritten and signed letter from D.H. Lawrence to George Conway, 10 June, 1925, from the Del Monte Ranch, Valdez, New Mexico. Included with the letter is a photograph of Lawrence with his cow, Susan, and Frieda's nephew, Friedel Jaffe. D.H. Lawrence writes to Conway about life in New Mexico, progress on his Mexico novel (The Plumed Serpent), and mentions the devastating illness he contracted in Oaxaca. George Conway was an English civil engineer. He became manager of the Mexican Light and Power Company in 1916, and wrote about Mexican history. He and his wife befriended the Lawrences in Mexico City in 1925, and were helpful when Lawrence became ill
