This work focuses on numerical and analytical simulation of Plasma Arc Welding (PAW) and multi-probe cryosurgery. The first portion of the study numerically simulates and optimizes the multi-probe cryosurgical procedure. Cryosurgery uses focal freezing to destroy unwanted tissue, usually benign or cancerous growths. Unintended and often harmful destruction of surrounding healthy tissue has been a constant problem since the technique's inception, however. An optimization procedure is developed, based on the simplex minimization technique, which potentially solves this problem
