The reproductive biology of two species of Indo-Pacific pygmy octopuses, the blue-ringed Hapalochlaena lunulata and Octopus bocki were studied. Interactions between same and opposite sex animals were examined to determine whether precopulatory courtship behavior occurs and whether animals sexually differentiate among conspecifics prior to physical contact
