Stories to pass on : Deanna Bowen
Stories to pass on... is an exhibition comprised of two bodies of work that spring from a road trip the artist made from Canada to the United States in an attempt to trace her great grandparents' migration to Western Canada in the early 1900s. This research resulted in the unexpected discovery of Bowen's family's slave roots in the small town of Pine Flats, Alabama. This exhibition brings together the first works made in response to this trip: Gospel and Shadow on the Prairie
