The Newell family photograph album consists of 101 photographs taken by various photographers between approximately 1860 and 1895. It contains portraits of the Newell and Moore families. The album documents the family of William Newell (1804-1881) and Frances Boott Newell (Frances Boott née Wells) (1814-1895). Appearing frequently in the album are their children: Frances Boott Stone (Frances Boott née Newell) and husband Richard Stone; Jane "Jeanie" Hancox Moore (Jane Hancox née Newell) and husband James Lowell Moore; William Wells Newell; Robert Ralston Newell; Kirk Boott Newell; and Louisa Lee Newell. Esther Tiffany and her grandfather Francis Buchanan Tiffany also appear in the album. Many of the sitters lived public lives and are noteworthy for their achievements in New England. The album consist entirely of portraits and includes cartes de visite and cabinet cards, as well as a few tintypes
