Kamehameha III : He Mo'olelo No Ka Mo'i Lokomaika'i /cP. Christiaan Klieger

P. Christiaan Klieger (Author)
Biography of Kamehameha III (born Kauikeaouli on March 17, 1814 and died on December 15, 1854), the third king of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi (from 1825 to 1854). He was the ali'i akua who addressed royal issues in relation to the kapu system, and defended the Kanaka maoli. Kamehameha III was the Hawaiian kingdom's most misunderstood king -- but also the longest ruling, the most beloved, and most defiant. He transformed a feudal chiefdom into a constitutional state and steered it into the recognition of its independence among the great powers -- the first in modern history
