"A youth suffering from total loss of memory is picked up by the police. Questioning by the police and treatment in a psychiatric hospital fail to establish his identity. Welfare officials place him in a home and eventually find him a job and a room, in hopes that he can begin to live a normal life. But outer circumstances and the boy's own troubled state of mind do not allow Thomas much normality.
