Edward Seu Chen Mau (Author)
"The Mau lineage played a unique part in the history of Chinese immigrants in Hawaii because it is the only known group with such a large number of individuals descended from a Founding Ancestor. From the initial arrival of its first settler, #17--Mau Lin Hop in 1870, to the last with #3--Mow Chock Moy's arrival in 1904, the twenty-six Mau settlers established their families and produced 169 children, 95 sons and 74 daughters. However, one of the twenty-fix settlers was not descended from the Founding Ancestor but was from an earlier ancestor ... While the number of Mau persons in Hawaii or their descendants who live in various parts of the world outside of China were multiplying, all the families were succeeding economically and were benefitting from their economic and educational achievements. In turn, members were contributing to the cultural, social, educational, religious and economic development of their respective communities"--Page 79
