The McClellans in Galloway
The McClellans have long been associated with Galloway in Scotland and the town and castle of Kirkcudbright has been a center for the clan. It appears that the family originally held lands in Bombie and branched out from there in the 1200s. In 1633, Robert McClellan, a descendant of Thomas of Bombie, became the first Lord Kirkcudbright. This title is still held by the McClellans. Descendants live in Galloway and other parts of Scotland as well as throughout most of the world
