In The Other Side, Pasqualina Johnston, 14, writes: "I've played with them in the street, / I've shared my younger years with one. / We stayed together and shared our treats / We sang and skipped and had lots of fun. / Then alas we grew older / The war began / And we grew bolder. / Now when we meet / We never speak / For fear of the boys in the street / Because she's of the 'other side.'"
