Eggs, beans and crumpets

A collection of short stories, most featuring familiar Wodehouse characters. Four centre on Bingo Little, familiar from stories in The Inimitable Jeves (1923) and from other collections. He is now married to Rosie M. Banks, the romantic novelist. These stories deal with his attempts to make money (usually to pay gambling debts that his wife does not know about). 'Anselm gets his Chance' is a story in the Mulliner series. Anselm, a curate and a relative of Mr Mulliner, gets the opportunity to deliver his sermon on 'Brotherly love', with unexpected consquences. 'Romance at Droitgate Spa' is not in any of the series. The three last stories are about Ukridge, always trying to get rich from schemes of very dubious honesty. The three Ukridge stories date from the 1920s; the others appeared in magazines within a few years of the date of book publication
