Captain of souls : Reverend William White
This documentary tells the story of Reverend William Andrew White, the son of a former American slave, who brought solace and pride to the black community of Nova Scotia. William Andrew White became the second black man to attend Acadia University in Nova Scotia, where he earned a bachelor in theology and later was honour with a doctor of divinity. Chronicles his career as a missionary for the African Baptist Churches of Nova Scotia, his service as a chaplain to the Second Construction Battalion in the First World War (being the only black officer and chaplain in the British Army), and his long service as minister in Cornwallis St. Baptist Church. Relates how he established monthly radio broadcasts, bringing his sermons to the public in Canada and the Northern United States
