A história do Edifício Copan
Carlos Alberto Cerqueira Lemos (Author)
Carlos A.C. Lemos, the architect designed by Oscar Niemeyer to administer, review and resolve the problems related with the construction of the Edifício Copan (Companhia Pan-Americana de Hotéis e Turismo), tells the story of the 38-story residential building located in the context of the urban evolution of the city and the emerging real estate in the early 1950's. The construction that lasted 18 years (1952-1966), is analyzed from an everyday perspective: the daily problems in the construction site, the changes that the project suffered, the real estate development and the procedures of professionals from several areas that it worked in the project. The technical drawings are reproduced in appropriate scale, including plants, elevations, and typography of the apartments within the six blocks of the building. Includes period photographs of the time of the construction and sale promotion
