A documentary on Alex Taylor Community School, an inner-city school in Edmonton, Alberta. When Steve Ramsankar became principal in 1970 he inherited all the problems of that community -- drugs, prostiution, poverty, and crime. For many it was a scene of despair. But since then Alex Taylor has become known as "the hugging school." Ramsankar has been awarded the Order of Canada and schools around the world are adopting his programs. Ramsankar has developed an innovative style of education that stresses personal esteem, cultural diversity, and meeting the basic needs of the inner-city community
