Basil Wolverton's Powerhouse Pepper
"Powerhouse Pepper, Basil Wolverton's send-up of 1940's super-heroes, was billed by Wolverton as "the puny person with the potent claws." An unlikely "super-hero" indeed, with bald head and no neck, a red-and-blue striped turtleneck, and a slight but brawny physique, Powerhouse Pepper was an affable problem-solver and superman in his own right, and the character for which Wolverton said he would like to be best-remembered. Wolverton wrote and drew more than 60 Pepper stories. The 11 episodes in this volume are those that appeared in various humor magazines after the character's comic book run ended in 1948. Also included in this volume is the 10-page "Hothead Hotel," Wolverton at his most inventively slapstick."--back cover
