A collection of three fantasy and science fiction stories originally published in 1985. Beyond the Dar al-Harb features Jami al-Kafir, a young Scottish prince turned bodyguard for a jewel merchant in Ayla. He is tricked by an unscrupulous Persian sorcerer into kidnapping an enchanted young woman called the White Flower. On Messenger Mountain follows a survey crew stranded on a mountain in an inhospitable world. As they struggle to find a way home, they discover they are not alone. Things Which Are Caesar's is set in the future in 2000 where humanity awaits a divine sign from heaven
